Silver Plate versus Silver Filled

With the price of sterling silver on the increase, we started looking for alternatives for customers. Gold-Fill has been an alternative to the high price of solid 14kt gold for years. Finally we have a solution. Silver-Filled Jump Rings!

What is silver filled?

To make a metal fill, the mill house mechanically bonds a sheet of .999 Fine Silver (pure silver) to a sheet of Brass. The combined metal is run thru a mill to create a round wire with a thick coat of silver on the outside. Our silver-filled wire and jump rings offer a layer hundreds of times thicker than silver plating and has the same properties as Fine Silver. .999 Fine Silver has more silver content than .925 Sterling Silver and tarnishes less. Silver-Filled offers the shine, beauty, and durability of solid Sterling Silver at less than half the cost.

10% Silver Filled

Our Pure Silver-Filled jump rings are 10% silver by weight. That thickness means that you will never wear or polish off the layer of silver to reveal the base. The cost savings is significant, especially on large projects and silver-fill is becoming the new standard in affordable, durable jewelry.
